Admission Committee

The admission process is of great importance as it directly impacts the reputation of the college. The primary objectives of the Admission Committee are to select suitable students based on merit and to ensure equal opportunities for all without discrimination. A new committee is constituted at the end of each academic year to oversee admissions for the following session.

The committee also plays a crucial role in guiding and counselling students in choosing the appropriate course of study.

Functions of the Admission Committee

  • To receive applications and scrutinize them to confirm eligibility.
  • To provide counselling regarding the programmes offered by the college.
  • To prioritize merit while maintaining reservation policies as directed by the University.
  • To decide on concessions as stipulated by the Management and the University.

The Admission Committee of George College, Sealdah conducts the admission process in an equitable, efficient, and timely manner. It focuses on:

  • Adhering to reservation policies as notified by the affiliating University.
  • Considering the sanctioned intake capacity of each course.

Procedure of the Admission Committee

1.     Receive applications from prospective students (online application system available).

2.     Publish the admission schedule, including:

·        Application form availability and submission deadlines

·        Document verification dates

·        Merit list publication dates

·        Fee payment deadlines

·        (Published on the college website and notice board.)

3.     Accept completed applications along with required documents from eligible students.

4.     Scrutinize applications based on predefined criteria and categories.

5.     Prepare and publish the merit list of eligible candidates along with admission formalities.

6.     Collect fees from selected students, verify documents, and issue fee receipts.
