Uniform Leave Rule

1. General Principle

  • Leave rules are applied uniformly to all employees (teaching and non-teaching) to ensure fairness and discipline.
  • Leave must be taken with proper approval from the competent authority.

2. Prior Permission

  • Employees must apply for leave in advance.
  • In case of emergency, information must be given as soon as possible.

3. Types of Leave

Common types of leave include:

  • Casual Leave (CL) – for short-term personal needs
  • Sick Leave (SL) – for health-related issues (medical proof may be required)
  • Earned Leave (EL) – for long-term leave with prior approval
  • Maternity/Paternity Leave – as per government norms

4. Leave Application Procedure

  • Submit leave application in prescribed format (online/offline).
  • Clearly mention:
  • reason
  • duration
  • contact details

5. Sanctioning Authority

  • Leave must be approved by:
  • Head of Department (if applicable)
  • Principal / authorized authority

6. Leave During Academic Session

  • Teaching staff should avoid leave during:

  • Alternative arrangements must be made for classes.

7. Unauthorized Absence

  • Absence without approval is considered misconduct.

8. Leave Record

9. Combination of Leave

  • Different types of leave may be combined only with approval.

10. Leave Without Pay (LWP)

  • If leave balance is exhausted, leave may be granted without pay.

11. Return from Leave

  • Employees must resume duty on time.
  • Overstaying leave without approval may lead to action.
